I have finally updated my 9780 yesterday from the original Vodacom.236 firmware to the latest.668 firmware as the key duplicating was driving me crazy. So far no issues (had to relog in to twitter, facebook), the upgrade went smoothly, and now I have significantly improved battery life and the duplicating key issue is gone. The camera too seems to operate faster. I downloaded the firmware from Swisscom - And followed advice from the links below: Follow the procedure below (this has to be followed otherwise your phone will not upgrade): 1. Download and install the latest firmware onto a PC running BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.

Go into c: Program Files Common Files Research In Motion Apploader and delete the vendor.xml file. Disconnect your PC from the internet (e.g. Unplug the network cable) 4.
Open Desktop Manager and connect your device 5. Follow the prompts to upgrade your device Pity that Vodacom does not provide updated firmware beyond the initial release firmware, especially when there are known issues. I've had this OS installed for quite some time now, but the battery life seriously sucks for me. It was the same thing with.666, but I don't wanna let go of this one, because of the super fast browser. Now I just keep my USB cable in my bag, so that I can keep my battery charged. Btw, Vodacom has this OS available for download for the 9780 and the 9800. I was actually quite surprised to see it, but I don't think it's on the Vodacom website, it's definitely on the BlackBerry website.
